Helm seat options for 26x

Post by sector »

I've purchased a 26x without a helm seat. It was removed by the previous owner and was thrown away. He also moved the pedestal back for more cockpit space which is nice but not having a seat makes long trips uncomfortable for me. Therefore I am interested in alternative seating solutions. I was thinking about using a leaning post with backrest or a pedestal mounted seat as an option. As my last option I am considering moving forward the pedestal into it's original position and buying original helm seat which I can't seem to find anywhere. What are your thoughts and recommendations. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

An ongoing problem I've had with the original Mac X seat concerns it's height...it's too low and prevents seeing over the bow when throttled down. I've needed an elevated cushion, which helped. Im only mentioning this since you'll have opportunity to "home-make" a seat...and possibly make it at a correct height. The Mac M solved this problem with a fac. raised seat.

I'm surprised that the prev. owner moved the pedestal back...sounds sorta overkill for more space. The MacX has plenty of room, and even more room than the MacM.

Good luck. There once was a thread concerning redoing the Mac X helm seat...not sure of it's thread name.

:macx: is a fine boat.

The molds are probably gone and there are no aftermarket suppliers - boats dont work like that. You could fab your own out of wood - thats my recommendation

I have the helm seat to a 2000 X that I removed long ago. The hinge is still on the boat but I could include that as well. If you want to take this off line to talk about it I'm at [email protected].
