Smart pilot installation questions

Post by Irafatsar »

Hay yal,
Where would I find the grounding plate on a m26?
Should I cut excess wire on power cable to wheel and fluxgate compass Going to the head unit?
Can anybody recommend optimum location for the fluxgate compass,

Thanks in advance

There is no gronding plate that I know of...if you are doing a lot of Mods you may want to install one I placed one under starboard seat next to ladder and one in my pedestal for grounding electronics
Cut most of the excess wire ...once you install you will prabably never move it from that location
Install Fluxgate under Starboard seat near Daggerboard

I believe I used the negative post of the battery for the grounding plate, it is the only thing on a fiberglass glass boat that is grounded.

The flluxgate compass I mounted under the forward dinette seat as close to the center board as possible.

That would be my first choice for location of the fluxgate, however picture a 6" speaker there

I assume you mean Speaker? You may want to relocate it....I had a outlet there but decided it would be more benifical to mount fluxgate there....You can always fix the hole with a non metalic deck plate....http://southjerseymarineoutlet.com/inde ... Path=76_79 or even mount fluxgate to deck plate and move speaker up to overhead compartment

Irafatsar,

I installed my FluxGate compass near that site but not quite. It is mounted in the back corner of that seat area, right up against the dagger board housing and above the seat deck. It does not interfere with the seat cushion or the hatch that covers that compartment below the seat. Works like a champ. Got the idea from Delevi who used to haunt these grounds but haven't seen him around in a while. He sold his Mac and got a bigger boat.

Good Luck.

Cheers,
Jim
