Hi Mason,

Welcome aboard. The Mac is a fine boat and you live in a great cruising area. You might consider heading over to Friday Harbor for the annual Blue Water Yachts rendezvous, which takes place June 23 through 26. It's an excellent event, and a great opportunity to learn more about your boat and get to know fellow Mac owners. If you're interested, just give Cheryl or Gail a call at Blue Water Yachts.

So clean up of the Knotty Girl is pretty much done, went through some dry runs of raising the mast and discovered my backstay is short about a foot. Hmmmm. Wondering if anyone in the Everett area would be willing to show a novice the finer art of tuning and first sail. I've had her out motoring and she handles extremely well. Sweeten the pot, lunch on me :) Any takers?

Sounds ike you are missing the rear chain plate for the backstay perhaps?

I recently took apart my RF and reassembled per instructions, made a 94 degree gauge to set the mast per factory spec. The RF / forestay turnbuckle is maxxed, backstay is taught, chainplate setting is maxxed... mast is about 96 degrees. Maybe Cat has a backstay stretcher?!

Chain plate is there, I'm wondering if I can put an adjustment extension in or perhaps a turnbuckle at the transom tiedown point. I'll monkey around with it some but keep throwing suggestions out, and thanks, good input :)

Absolutely beautiful 4th of July out on the Sound this morning and afternoon! Motored around as I believe I'm needing a backstay adjuster (next payday). Should have seen some of the surprised looks on some folks when the Knotty Girl got up on plane mwahahahahaha!!!

Y'all have a great 4th of July!

Beautiful day out on the Sound with my neighbor on the Knotty Girl :macx: ! Dunked her at the Everett Marina, motored out, then waited to catch some air. Took a bit but it eventually showed up, clocked top speed of 9 knots, not too shabby :) On our way back, we passed to port of the yellow bouy and saw an absolutely ginormous sealion basking on top of it. Saw about a half dozen salmon jump out of the water. Asked my neighbor (marine biologist) if they were the chaser or the chasee .... he said not to fall overboard. Got the Knotty Girl :macx: back on the trailer while watching about a dozen or more seals hanging out. Safely home, will wash her down and wax her tomorrow after work. All in all a great day. Wish there were a couple more months of this weather ....
