Re: Mac 25 mainsail repair
That's your topping lift. Your boat may not have come with one. Mine did not. I drilled a hole through the rear of the masthead. (the bracket on top of the mast that connects to your backstay) I then mounted a swivel block to that hole and ran a line from the base of the mast up through that block and down to the end of the boom. Pull in in and cleat it to the mast to lift the boom out of the cockpit if you are not sailing or are at the dock. When sailing let the topping lift out (a bit slack) so that your main sheet and/or your boom vang control the boom position.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Of course you may also be talking about the leech cord that is actually inside the aft end of the mainsail. I'm not sure how you'd fix that one.
Enjoy

Hi Ryan, Mac's don't come with topping lifts and in my experience they're not really necessary on this boat. Some people like them, many go without.Ryan wrote:My mainsail is missing a cord or cable that runs from the top of the mast to the aft of the boom. can I repair this and how? Thanx , Ryan.

Re: Mac 25 mainsail repair
Hi, Ryan
I rigged my topping lift the same way, except I ran it back to the cockpit. Pretty handy to have when you want to reef the main. Otherwise, when you slack the main halyard to reef, she drops into the cockpit.
My Mac 25 (and I suppose yours as well) has a gooseneck fitting which allows the boom to rotate. A precursor to modern boom furling, I guess. Tried it, doesn't work. Thanks, Roger.
Get a topping lift.
Happy sailing.

Re: Mac 25 mainsail repair
Thanks guys, it's actually the leech cord inside the tiny sleeve of the mainsail. I need tp figure out how to replace it and work it. Any Ideas? Ryan.
