Home town name on boat?
Which to use: Hometown name OR lake/marina name applied the stern seat back of the boat? example, "Huff n Puff" Arvada, Colorado OR "Huff n Puff" Lake. Granby, Colorado?

If you are an active member of your marina yacht club, I would go with that. That is what I am going to do.

Off topic, please start a thread talking about the mast conversion you did on your boat, I am sure many of us would like to read about it and see photographs.

I vote lake or river. I've always thought it was funny seeing boats home ported in San Diego that say Prescott AZ as their home port. There should, at a minimum, be a port in my opinion.bscott wrote:Which to use: Hometown name OR lake/marina name applied the stern seat back of the boat? example, "Huff n Puff" Arvada, Colorado OR "Huff n Puff" Lake. Don't give a home port so if you do something really dumb they do not know where to go looking for you

I don't have home town but I'm thinking of adding it. So people know where we live and might strike up a conversation.

I've got my homeport across the back of the seat in 4" letters in case I decide to document the vessel.

I will put our first names across the custom helm seat I will build. I little higher ( 3" is the plan ) and about 4 inches farther back. Gary & Karen engraved in the back of the seat.

I've met some nice folk simply through conversations started up with the "home town" pasted on their boat. Interestingly, I've met folk that were from rural areas where I was raised. And, frequently, we know the same folks from our areas. Great fun !
"I notice youre from ... (your town)" -- and the conversation and friendships are automatic. I've noticed that friendly-folk PASTE their "home town" on boats arent hiding from anyone or anything.

LOL...no doubt, DC! It's gotten almost scary how easy it is to get that basic info and locate someone.
On topic, every time we talk about putting the home town on the boat, we chuckle and shake our heads because our home town does not include the sailing waters...so it's kinda hard to think of saying that the boat is from (landlocked place) when...it's a BOAT!
We just keep thinking it would be odd - it doesn't say "Cap'n and Admiral name, home town name", it has the boat's name... I dunno, it just never seems to make sense to me to put the name of a landlocked city on a boat's behind...

I am Thinking I like Highlanders idea
Make It Exotic... Make it Fun.. Think of all the folks who would stop and talk to you in the "Keys" If Prudhoe Bay, Alaska was on the back
