I replaced the bayonet bulbs in the cabin light fixtures directly with multi led clusters from superb rights LEDs.com
They work well and are nearly as bright. The are cylindrical in shape and fit right in. Wish all mods were like that.
I replaced the bow light bulb with a wm bicolor cluster for about fifty bucks but I also replaced the fixture because the cluster was a poor fit in the oem one. I have yet to do the stern light.
I have a heavy duty yard light but it's not bright enough. Some lost powerboat roared by me last night, very, very lost.
So close I could hear his wife telling him to slow down :o
Even good anchor lights get lost in the shoreside light clutter. I am now thinking rope lights, like blue or green ones.
They have ones that even change color all over eBay for thirty buck for five ...meters...(sigh) strip that has an adhesive back. Cheap enough to experiment with.
On my last boat I had red and green cluster LEDs in clear jars with a teak housing for the bow lights. They WERE visible two miles. Much brighter then the oem lights ever were.

My job today is getting more light up. Have strips of blue LEDs and a larger 12 dc anchor light to supplement my t
Yard light plus a water proof switch I can place in the cockpit somewhere. I am ordering two blue led spotlights off eBay.
I like the ocean liner lights idea!
Chose blue because the boat might eventually be painted light blue.

Those original panel lights are brighter (and use more power) than all your LEDs.

One of the first mods I did was to add LED accent lighting.

Put 2 on each side of the aft bunk, lined the ladder and then some more around the boat.
Hard to photograph dim lights, but they are very nice at night. They give off just enough to see and not ruin night vision.

Lights on the ladder are a safety feature as well.

Russ, why do you have an access port, on the side, under the table?
(Lights are cool, by the way!)

It's a black speaker. There is another opposite side.

Lights don't photograph well, but it's nice to have some dim lighting below at night.

Maybe just lower frequencies, as the cones won't move as fast as white ones? :|

Or does that only apply to blue speakers?

There ya go.Fixed it for ya!

Oh my lord!! luckily for Rich (haminx)(and unluckily for me!) had a lightning strike on my X and came back on for some info, and lo and behold I find that poor Rich (hopefully he didnt take the whole family along!) has been wandering the wasteland searching for five years (since my original post) to find the answer to the most important question of all time on this board - WHAT IS A GUESTION?

Please notice Rick, the misstated Question has been repaired! Please return to your homeland and cease your 5 year search for the holy QRAIL!!

More on topic is the fact that since originally posting my question Orca has come out with not only LED spreader lights (in both red and white), but also an LED combo steaming/deck (also red or white) light all of which I purchased. Believe me, their lights are tough! The tri-anchor strobe at the top of my mast took the direct hit from the lighting and only lost a small chip of glass. Don't get me wrong - it stopped working, but with that hit it should've disentegrated!!

Please forgive any typos and PLEASE dont go searching for the real word!! I'll be here openly (not just lurking as usual) asking "you know what", so please feel free to PM me any corrections.
