Hello:
Does anyone know where I can find the serial number on a 1972 MacGregor 22 sailboat trailer? I have looked but cannot see one. Is it stamped into the metal somewhere or on a plaque?
thanks,
Ronnie.

mines early 80s, so take this with a grain of salt... Mine had a on the front left that was faded. But after some searching, I found the number stamped in the metal on right side. It was on the top of the diagonal frame piece that tapered in from the full width to center.

Thanks for your help Geof. I will look and scrap some old paint off in that area. It may be there. I have also found out that a new serial number can be issued by the MVD if needed at a cost of about $100.
cheers,
Ronnie.

Yeah, paint and surface rust made mine pretty hard to read, but I took some steel wool to it. Muriatic acid might help as well since it eats rust.

This would be a good time to watch all 268 seasons of CSI
for the ways they look for VINs.

Be sure to have a white labcoat, a freaking awesome virtual computer display, and some stuff you apply with a dropper.
