New name has been decided!

Post by Kevgrn114 »

Ok, the name has been finalized. "Drag N Fly"
This covers the dual purpose of the 26X to be a powerboat and a sailboat. It also is inclusive of the Dragonfly which has cool spiritual meanings of change, wisdom and enlightenment. And to top it all off some really cool tribal art of a dragonfly. :-)

I hope you aren't offended but we named ours simply 'Dragonfly' this last weekend...it is a good name, we'll spell it normally. It occurred as the dragonflies cavorted off our boat at Saguaro Lake this weekend.

Love your double entendre.

LOL! Great minds think alike I guess!
I suppose if we are ever in the same event we can just put a 1 and a 2 after the name. Or maybe an "Also" :D

Absolutely! :D We can set up a stand and sell dragonfly tchotchkes. They are plentiful it turns out. :)

I like all the history and mysticism around naming a boat. You should read why naming is so important in the western traditions - you need to identify your boat to Neptune who keeps track of every vessel on his ocean. That's part of the champagne breaking tradition too - a sacrifice to ancient gods. Also, the bad luck in many stories is usually attributed to someone full of hubris re-naming his boat without ceremony, usually a pirate. All part of the superstitious aspect and why we carefully name our boats.

Quite right too. we denamed our :macx: a little while ago, and now having left a little time for her to be 'forgotton' we are renaming her soon. People can scoff and claim its just another excuse for a party (whats wrong with that!!).
