with a 6 foot remote control cable. I'll post pics of that mod when done. I think I got a good deal on this boat, but there is a fair amount of work to be done on it, so I probably won't be floating it for my 1st time untill spring. I already have Macgregor winter fever.

No longer a "soon to be" Capt
Bought a 2002
last week.
Towed it 150 miles behind my modified, 1982 Chevy S10 ( V8, 4 spd auto, overload springs, air shocks ). After dark, during rush hour, thru the crazies in Seattle. I have never towed anything so big behind my little truck. S10 handled it far better than I did.
Did not want to try to manuver my rural driveway 1st time in the dark, so I spent the night in the boat in parking lot at work ( got to show it off that morning ). Very comfy, can't wait to go camping in it. Covered in my driveway now, and have been cleaning and repairing. I have to replace the ballast tank valve, and will use a valve

Even though it's too cold to sail, it's still fun to pull into a RV park and camp for the weekend. The admiral and I sure got alot of funny looks when we went cross country and did it.

Welcome Smitty, and a suggestion for your S10. Add a transmission cooler. They are cheap and trannys are expensive. One the other hand, a manual S10 is always trying to burn out the clutch plate. I know this by experience.

Re: No longer a "soon to be" Capt
Welcome aboard!! That's so exciting. I purchased my X this time last year....it was all I could think about!! Lots of mods since then and plenty of sailing the Puget Sound. I hope to see you on the water this summer!! If you're interested, I'm planning at least two seperate weeks sailing around the San Juan islands....I'm far from expert sailer but I know how to stay out of trouble and have fun, plus I know the area very well if you want to come join in some cruising this next summer. I'll be posting the dates since I haven't set them yet (still waiting for the BC sailer's calendar to come out so I can join some group sailings).

Welcome to the madness!
I get funny looks all the time pulling with my wrangler. The boat pulls very well though!
I have had mine for a few months and had it out sailing a lot, but still haven't slept on it.
Your mods will get less stressful after you cut your first hole in the boat.
