Softopper Seat Covers
Softopper Seat Covers
Hi all,
I'm planning on purchasing interior and exterior seat covers from Softopper - http://www.softopper.com/marine-products-list.aspx
Has anyone on here already done so and if so what are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance

I was referring to the search function on this site, in the upper right corner. The result shows all the posts in the archives for the topic of which you are asking.

Re: Softopper Seat Covers
I purchased both the interior seat covers and the carpet for my 96 26X 2 years ago.
They are excellant quality and it will make the interior of an old Mac look new.

Personaly I like the Sunbrella fabric for interior/exterior cushions.
They are non slip and water proof .
Teresa is doing over the interior cushions from a disregarded 2 year old 20 ft. unbrella.
Sunbrella is like new.
slipery covers are not good for Sailing.

Yes, the Softtoppers are Vinyl that looks like leather . The Sunbrella is much better for cleaning, non slip and sweat from body.
Will post pictures soon on our refit with a 2 year old 20 ft. umbrella that I am useing for all interior chusions and covers for many parts of boat.
My Girlfriend of 13 years will do all the fabracations.
All she needs is new zippers and onox thread. Cost will be under $100.
Add $150 for new Sunbrella.@$18 a yard x 52 inch width.
So makeing your own would cost in materials less than $250 add $125 for high desity foam from the Foam Factory.
These are high prices and problely cost less.
Vinyl is just to slippery when wet and sticks to you when dry, sitting on them in heat of summer just sweats your butt.
Sunbrella on 1 inch closed cell foam in cockpit is perfect. Also allows a floating lounge chair.
Easy storage and comfort.

Re: Softopper Seat Covers
I don't know what those softtoppers are made of, but they look similar to our factory vinyl cushions which are HOT HOT HOT! The sun heats them up to the point that they can cause 3rd degree burns if you sit on them in shorts. We must place beach towels over them to keep them cool. We'll be replacing them with Sunbrella this year. That stuff is an amazing fabric.yawlboy wrote:Hi all,

Re: Softopper Seat Covers
Russ,
I made my cockpit chusions out of 1-1/2 inch closed cell foam and Sunbrella fabric on my Compac19 but all you need is 1inch thick Closed cell and easy to store down below. I even used mine as a Lounge in the water and floats nice.
Here is one picture but there are few others on site that includes a cockpit filler for sleeping.
The sun was given shadows and fabric is much tighter than appears in photos.
Velcro was sewn in instead of zippers (Much better in salt water)

Re: Softopper Seat Covers
Sorry what is this Sun thing you are speaking of? Living in Ireland we get cloudy and rainy (sometimes even snowy) but sunny is a rare thing
