V22 pop top

Post by roadstarmedic »

I find my pop top to be extremely heavy and awkward to put up.
Does anyone know of a way to install gas pistons or struts to help lift it? Or is there a kit for that?
Thanks!

I would love to see some examples of this as well. We figured out the "easiest" way on our 25, but it is almost dangerous if it got away from you.

I replied to your post in the repair thread, but I figured I'd just put it here too.

A quick Google search for gas struts and sailboat pop top will yield lots of results and information.

Here's a video I found of someone that installed some on a M26, but exact same principle would apply to any other Macgregor boat:

I've been wanting to do this myself.
