might be a record
After 14 seasons my morse steering gave up. It's not at the steering wheel, the wheel still grips and moves the cable, I can see in the pedistal. I figured I would go to the motor end, pull out the broken cable and shove up a new one. About 10 minutes into my work I came to that inch long nut where the cable? comes out of the boat. I cant get at it straight on, because of a bracket that is bolted to the boat. I thought they were screws, but they just turn. can't think of any way to get at the nuts. I tried a punch and hammer on the inch long nut, but no luck. any ideas on getting that nut loose? Jim

Got the bolts out, there were nuts inside that I could get at. Got the inch long nut off, but still bambooseled. Going to the boatyard this week. It was nuts. Jim.

An afterthough. My steering broke in late august. But with a fiberglass pole mounted to the motor with pipe clamps, a small piece of line, two small pulleys on the rear docking cleats and some double sided tape behind the steering wheel spokes, I had a damm fine steering system. I could have used it this year, but I don't think I could have sold it that way. Jim
