New Mercury "lightweight" 4stroke 115

So mercury has a new powerhead with 2.1 liter disp in 75, 90, and 115hp models that only weigh 359lbs and 4 extra pounds for low gear ratio called command thrust.... Command thrust let's you use big props from their v6 line up.

Hmmmmmm very interesting. All these recent repower threads and my kids are asking about skiing and tubing!

I t think someone started a thread or suggested a thread where people list their engine hp, weight, prop, top speed, and fuel economy. It would be nice to have one thread with that data from guys with engines over 50hp.

I think beene is ready for an engine over 100hp

Knee boards
Heck even I have water skied behind my M

Wife wants a floating condo if she is to spend more/any time sailing and going on trips with me in the future

Sure she will come for a light sail.... but overnight... she's kind of a Ritz Gal....

The cabin of the 400 or a Hunter 41 would do the trick

But the Cat will sail cricles around the Hunter

And as for towing LOL... those days would be over as well

I dont want to be rigging/unrigging and trailering for hours after a couple decades of doing just that

I had a Sandpiper before my Mac, and hobbies and Wind surfers before that...

I am looking fwd to something sitting in the water waiting for me to just climb aboard, cast off and go sailing

Not going to happen for many years to come, but just thinking ahead

The Catalina 42 is one of my personal favorites, as is the 36. I don't know anything about the 400, though. The interior reminds me of my H340 - it was made to show well, and appeal to the admirals out there. And yes, it's a floating condo. I like the look of the Catalinas better than the Hunters; the Hunters have that straight shear that rolls off at the stern. Didn't care for mine, and don't care for them now. Oh wait - check that - just checked their web site, and they've dropped the rolled-off shear line at the stern. But now they've got futuristic ports. Not for me. But I do like the arch, with end-boom sheeting.

Consider also the Tartan 4000. It's under half a million, so should be a no-brainer.

Catalina has a user group and dealer network like no other. When I hit the boat shows, I'm always amazed how much more knowledgable the Cat people working the booth are, relative to others.

Finally Mercury is breaking some new ground with industry first engineering. Was a little disappointed at the 35amp alt output compared to the 2stroke optima's 60amps, but the 115 CT is even lighter in weight than the 2Strke optima. and with the hew hydo valve train they about got me convinced to go 4Strk.
