The French people sure are stuck on that Vendeelobe design. It makes for the fastest ocean passages possible but it sure is a ruff rider, we got a few of those over here and they hobby horse all over the place but they are the fastest thing in the swells. Seems like the French build all their boats that way now.

Maybe Tattoo knows something about the emerging market of sailboats? Certainly more that I will ever know. Received and email this week with the following link. Go 22 footers! Now can we get back to where we started and stretch another 4-6 ft. For all of Mac 26 move uppers?

That is my boat, being sailed by the dealership right before I bought it. I've only gotten her up to 8.5 knots, as we haven't had that much wind here since.

Yes, the new Oceanis 35 is a smaller version of the same design. It's actually only 31.7', so I don't know why its not called a 32, except that they also sell an Oceanis 31 that seems quite a bit smaller because its an older design. The 35' is new this year. The first one on the west coast was just delivered this week.

The two aft cabins and the engine are directly under the cockpit. The gunnels are very wide, allowing standing room at the door with the berths under the cockpit deck. The after 3 feet of cockpit is a mechanical space where the rudders and steering linkage is located. There's plenty of open space, but its hard to use without affecting steerage.

So all I need to do is wait 5-10 years for the used ones to hit the market? :)

This sounds better.. as a Friend just rented 20,000 sqft for under $10,000 a month in a relativley new building with a total power supply of 800 amps @277/480 just outside Sarasota.. ( The Size of the Electrical service has a LOT to do with cost of rent..) Humm 22' replacing 26' well you dont take those 4' off the nose you basically take them from the cabin.. Go look with tape measure in hand at the inside of a 26 X or M and on the M move the heads partition 4 feet closer to the ladder and tell me if you would have bought? Remember they had a 19 and JUMPED to the 26 again..As for mastrebs prediction? Maybe maybe not..Robots fixing cars and building houses is a long ways off..Robots building Power plants is longer off.. But In The Year of 25 .. 25 if man is still alive, if woman can survive... Have things changed? Yes.. Can robots/programs take over IT ? Its already being done.. We will never see another ROME so that scenario of not needing to work will never happen for the masses and it didnt really happen back then...

One thing I noticed, I think you meant commercial/industrial space is $5 per sq ft per year, not per month. That would make the cost around $84,000 over 20 months, not $1 million. (?) A larger facility (10,000 ft^2 sounds small to me) would make that number larger of course.

I'm not fully convinced that we've seen the last of the 26's in the longer term. It's on the back burner for a while.

Does anybody on this board have any new, solid information on Tattoo Yachts?
Do they have a new location or is this the end? :?
It's too quiet for too long! :?

We should ask Clay, the guy who made the trailers at the Costa Mesa plant. He moved to Florida with the company. He should know what's going on.

Hi Obelix
I am going to florida in november for the FTLdale boat show. I will try to visit the Tattoo factory, where it is going to be hopefully not far. I was at the Montreal boat show in feb. 2015 and at that time we were more catamaran minded looking at Garmin and Raymarine new stuff.
So we touched the tattoo 26 but did not go in ... grrrrr , my wife has seen many videos but she is a touch it person. My friend bought a catamaran , a Leopard44 quicker than expected. We did some sailing with it, it has its advantages and disadvantages, so for now, we like the idea of caravaning to the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and around florida . So our sailboat would now be a Mac26 type of sailboat (trailerable) with shallow draft (for kitesurfing spots) , I also read comparisons between the Hunter Edge and the Mac 26 M .
Personnaly i think the basics are there for a successfull new design with updated design constraints .
For one people are taller. But we could assist the tattoo company with feedbacks .
I don't know if this would require a new post ?
cheers
Mike

Hi Mike,

The reason for my question is the current mailing address for Tattoo-Yachts is:
4521 PGA Blvd #424, Palm Beach Gardens FL 33418 :?
This address is in a shopping center and doesn't look like a factory at all.
So what's going on?

That address is for a UPS store (must be using a mail forwarding agency)

It's pretty common for small businesses to use a PO Box as their corporate address. Cuts down on uninvited visitors. It's the lack of updates or progress on the Tattoo website that is truly discouraging. They lost a lot of momentum when they went out of production, and it's really hard to get that back.

Their old address was:

3419 SE Lionel Terrace
Stuart, FL 34997

They indicated that they were moving to a larger facility.

If you google earth that address you can see some interesting stuff. What looks like from the shadow maybe the hull of a 22 in the front. On the side is maybe a whole 22 and in the back is maybe part of a mold...maybe. :)
Don't know the date of the photo, but probably not more than a year old.
