Installing a forward hatch on a Venture 2-22

Post by tidal9 »

Looking to install a forward hatch in my Venture 2-22. Not sure what the factory specs were, but I was looking at a Bomar low profile model with a 19 3/4 square cutout. Is this size too big/small and are there any structural issues to consider? I was thinking of installing it on the foredeck just before the bow pulpit, but have also seen them above the cabin just past the mast. Any recommendations?

My 22.2 had the factory hatch option near the mast. It's easier to get to rather then having to crawl into the v berth.
