Hi All: It seems as though My Doctors have guessed way short of the projected 7-8 years before My COPD +Emphazma(?) and Asbestosis made Me set a permanent anchorage . I have enjoyed the time I have spent here with all of You fine folks and am thankful for all the advice and help with the mods I have made to Dauntless. I took Her out the other week....or better , I tried to take Her out.... and even though it's not hard to set up , I do get a little winded , and need to rest a while before launching.... This time I forgot My inhaler and wound up in the V.A.hospital in Waco Tx. The Doctors and all of My Family have ganged up on Me and Selling Dauntless is the result. I hope the next Owner gets to enjoy the dream trips I rigged Her for, but am not going to make. It sucks when the reality that You don't want sinks in.....But's that's life. Ron. Dauntless.

Your situation is a real downer. If you have the energy and motivation, there may still be ways for you to get out on the water.

mrron, Feel for you. I am kinda in same situation (reversed) Retired a couple years ago(medical) Halving to sell my motorcycle I purchased my first sailboat last fall. Riding a sailboat is the closest thing to riding bike although alot quieter. When raising the sail and rigging I just take my time and rest alot. Might take longer, but even that is enjoyment. Since I'm a newbie and not a hardcore sailor , I tend to want to go to group sails ( always someone around for help or advice) Hope you hold out selling for as long as you can. Hope your condition improves (Agent Orange sucks)

We are so use to "hello newcomer", and "your turn to buy pizza", that we never get to practise our goodbyes. One thing I really like is WE do modify these boats, we just don't sail them. To me, it makes the MacGregor really unique. Mr. Ron be proud your legacy is living on... Thank you for your posts and contributions over the past few years.

Is the boat sold already or just up for sale? I'm thinking stall tactics. & just motoring around - With someone (Admiral? Grand kids??) for this season With several inhalers onboard

While I had always wanted a boat. it became a priority for me around '05. I was diagnosed with some 9/11 breathing issues that aren't nearly as serious as yours. But words like COPD & emphysema were bandied about and there was a lot of fear & PTSD issues to work out. The was the prescription for me. I'm a lousy sailor with a short attention span & a big motor. But being on the water, & in the sea air, I argue is one of the best therapies & medicines.

Last year I somehow managed to tear my hip - possibly during a lowering tide launch where I had to do a lot of pushing & shoving to get Miss Ollie off the trailer. Getting rid of "that damn boat" was my family's mantra. Not Happening my reply

Our families love us & mean well. & while Your decision is probably made. Let them also know what boating means to you. & let them help you do what you love to any extent that may still be possible. They owe you that - as you owe them to Keep Your Inhaler With You

Either way, don't be a stranger. Hang on as long as you can stand it -- & then some.

Instead of sitting around here bragging about your boats you could surely continue to sit around here and just brag couldn't 'ya???

I dread the day the day I can no longer sail my boat. My sympathies to you guys.
