West Marine sells a portable Thru Hatch air conditioner. It's like a window air for your boat - it's just for the dock cuz it needs 120 volt unless you carry a generator. Price is good too at 6000 btu.
It's a cube box of white plastic about 12 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches and you just set it on the bow and it has a hose vent duct thing on it's side that blows cold air into the front hatch on the boat. Looks like a pretty cool gadget.
I thought it was cool because it was so small - I have a residential style 6500 BTU portable AC in my van and it's three times bigger!

Yeah, here is a picture:

Looks like they finally are going to produce my mast top camera now too:

But I must wait two more days to order it.

$400 for a gopro camera? What makes it a mast top? Still needs to be charged. Just get a Hero3 and plug it into a USB power cord and use the built in WiFi to your phone.BOAT wrote:Looks like they finally are going to produce my mast top camera now too:

Or spend $20 on a proper weatherproof camera

I have several of that very same camera. One I installed in a little hole I drilled into the red roof top mounted tail light on my van as a rear view camera. It can be used wireless and can get power from the mast light by using a transmitter - I have used the transmitter too. I'm not sure the picture would be clear enough to spot other boats, but it just might work - it's a good idea - I will experiment with the one I have on different screens to see what kind of resolution I can get out of that thing.RussMT wrote:

A mast top camera is a handy thing when you sail in the ocean a lot - out of sight of land.

Not sure a GoPro is the solution you seek. Yes, it's high resolution, but expensive. Not meant for constant and remote power. It's meant to be mounted on a surfboard or ski helmet and record to a chip.BOAT wrote:I have several of that very same camera. Re: air conditioning
Well that pretty much chaps my hide, I guess i need to re-think my horizon camera plans. I was going to contact the guy that makes the wind instruments for the top of the M rotating mast and get some drawings on his mast top hardware. I would like to create an entire array on a single platform that just pops right on to the top of the mast just before mast raising. Everything on one mount with ONE plug. Wind sensor, camera, and whatever else I want to put up there.RussMT wrote:
