26m C-head installation pictures?

Post by fishstalker7 »

Hi all,

Trying to see pics of the C-head installed on a 26m.

If you've done this particular mod...can you share your pics please?

I was surprised not to find this in the mods section.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Fair winds,

David

OK, in case there are others like me who are guessing that C-head means composting, please tell us if that is what it means.

Googled it- yes, you are correct. Composting toilet, 1 gallon urine jug; 5 gallon composting bucket in the version I saw. Looks like installation would consist of securing it to the floor. Probably prudent to check the height, though.

The C-Head is one of 3 main composting heads made by a former special forces medic here in FL. It is about 1/2 the price of the other two major brands and field repairable using basic materials. Sandy Graves, the designer/manufacturer, made a modified version specifically for the 26m (and adaptable to other boats) for a member of this forum. Since then, several folks here have installed them, but I've been unable to find pics of their installs in the mod section to gain insight/ideas on the 26m installation.

So...if you have one installed on a 26m...I'd love to see your install!

Go to this old post and look at RobertB's install about half way down the page.

BTW, folks, to link a specific posting within a thread, click on the little piece of paper icon beside the header at the top of the post you want to link.

For example, see just above here where it says:

I'm referring to the little icon to the left (Image)... this is the link to that specific posting. Click on it, then copy the link from your URL window at the top of your browser (or just right-click on the little icon and select "Copy Link Location"). Then when you post your link to the thread, just paste in that link and it will go right to the correct entry within the thread. This will always give you the exact location, regardless of what page the post is on or how many pages get added over time.

So... to demonstrate... here's a link directly to the posting with the photos:

I took three photos of my simple installation last evening, but have not figured out how to post them. Very happy with the C-Head. I use one gallon ziplock bags to hold the composting medium. I use cedar bedding material (pellets) that I soak, pulverize to sawdust, then dry. Sounds complicated but I can make up many bags of material without a lot of effort. It is interesting to note that the 26M modified C-Head with the notch bottom doesn't mount square to the head compartment, but angles to follow the raised floor. I've mounted with simple cleats and ropes. I put a solid block of wood under the leading edge, as the notched unit does not reach the lower floor.

Sailor Dale,

That's the setup I am contemplating...I'd love to see your pics if you can figure it out or get moderator help to post them?

Thanks!
