Evinrude E-tec outboard warranty transfer question

Post by whyguruguru »

Hi

Thank you for the great advise from my last post. I have decided to repower my 26x with Evinrude 90hp engine.

I found an used 2015 Evinrude 90hp in nearly perfect condition from the local craigslist. The seller originally had the dealer installed and tuned the motor, and he is willing to transfer the remaining 4.5 yr warranty to me. The motor has been removed from the boat and crated.

Now, if I install the motor myself, will that void the warranty ???

I originally had a 1999 Evinrude 50hp on my X, is it possible that I can reuse some of the rigging ??? Thank you for your help

Doesn't matter is he's willing to transfer the warranty to you its up to the manufacturer or the insurance company that holds it. Get the serial # and get a hold of the manufacturer (not the dealer) or their warranty branch and get it in writing that it is transfered to you.
