Has anyone ever resolved a leak into the very back of the cabin by resealing this seam? It sure looks bad, and I have resealed everything else back there I can find!

I don't have an X, however there are many common leak areas.

The steering linkage is one of the most common.
You're photo shows the steering cables above the cockpit. Screws could be leaking?

Pedestal would be another place I'd look.

I also have a 1998 X and have been resolving leak issues in the aft area. This was one of the major ones ,but i didn't realize how bad it was until i started removing the old sealant.
Removing the old sealant was kind of a pain I used a strong putty knife and a carpet knife then cleaned with acetone and used 3M 5200. Major improvement on my leak issue

Can't quite tell in the picture, but the old stuff is peeling up. I resealed the screw holes as well as all of the other through hulls in the stern, there are quite a few and they all seem weather tight until I realized this issues in the fuel lockers. I can't understand why this wasn't designed a little different to prevent the possibility of fuel spilling into the Cabin!

That is an interesting arrangement you've got there - running the cables directly from the pedestal aft to the steering linkage and kicker.

That's an after-market mod, yes? Did you do this mod, or did the PO do this mod?

That would free up the aft berth for sleeping.

One of the POs did it. The boat spent some time in the Bahamas couple years ago, but they guy I bought it from didn't have it but 6 months and decided he preferred his 26s. The steering cable still goes down into the pedestal and into the Aft berth, and a couple of other minor wires I ran there tuck back into the liner right away. Al the chart plotter wires (GPS and Transducer) wire Outboard harness and so forth that run right there. I will snap a few more shots of the setup if anyone else wants to check it out. Unfortunately as I received the boat the work was no very good, don't know who was responsible for it, but its pretty decent now.

Scraped it out siliconed it and it snowed next day and went out today to find standing water in the fuel compartments. Which made me happy because of course that imlplies it didn't go into the boat!

I am starting to have the same sentiment as the PO 6montsh have passed and I think I may prefer to stay with my 1995 26s and replace the :macx: with a dedicated Wake board boat... If anyone is in the Albuquerque area or interested PM me.

My 2001 :macx: is leaking into the arf berth. My next area to start sealing up was around the pedestal. I didn't even think to look inside the fuel lockers. Mine are a dirty mess, but they have snap on covers. I didn't make them a priority, but I will now. Thanks for posting!
