That sucks! I didn't notice anything when we were at the launch ramp. With the damaged rudder I wonder if that's what was messing up the autopilot.

Didn't you have IDA rudders (the after market ones)? My old mast foot was pretty shodily installed when I had to remove it and re-drill for the new mast blank.

Judging by some of the older videos of you doing warp nine in Pegasus, it's probably a wonder that things lasted as long as they did! I'd like to see a picture of your bent bracket. If you looked at my (now) very old welded reinforcement you might get some ideas of what to do next. Haven't had any issues since then.

I've had a MuscleHead main for quite a few years now, and it is a different sailing from a traditional shapped sail.

Because of the extra cloth up high, it heels much quicker. I believe it gives better sailing at the lower wind speeds, but when the winds pick up a little, be prepared to let out some of the main sheet. In a good breeze, you also need to balance the headsail. You can get spun around easily.

FWIW, my mast was drilled crooked, and the light doesn't quite point dead ahead as well as the spreaders and top hardware, and even the boom was drilled such that it's rotated a bit. Not huge, but fixture to drill repetitive holes would have been cheap to make and useful for reducing layout time. And the parts would have been drilled true.

I have said for some time that the rotating mast is a liability. For anyone who carries any kind of rig loads and sails in winds of 12kts+ Go ahead and sight up the mast when it's rotated and the boat pointing on a close reach or higher. In fact, it may be obvious just on the trailer. The mast will have an obvious sideways bend, possibly even an S curve to it. I never had mine detach from the plate, but I was on board Beene's boat when this happened... though wasn't there for the haul out to see the carnage after. We didn't even know something was wrong.

Sorry to hear about your troubles G. Good call on the new main, though if you have a full batten, you will find it harder to hoist the sail. A proper luff receptacle and appropriate luff car or slide is really important for any full batten.

Wish I had advice on the rudders. Saw you break 3 now. I broke at least that many, though only IDA plastic ones. Never broke the stock fiberglass rudders. Brackets are a different story as they do distort frequently and require to be bent back. I remember one occasion where the loads sheared the bolt (which was upsized) or ate least it sheared the thread and the bolt popped out. Nothing like dragging your rudder behind you

Ouch, double ouch .... $299us for each rudder (presuming you're ordering two) comes to another $700 after tax and customs duty. This is the first time I realized a mainsail came in at around a thousand bucks!
Geoff, I'd add another 60 to that sum to cover the cost of a bottle of Scotch.... sufficient to drown your sorrows.
