Rain water in the 26m

Post by kurz »

Hello
Unfortunately there are some leaks that let rain water in.

So I really want to get them save before the winter.

One I found at the bow near the stanchion. So I first thougth the reason could be the stanchion with the screw.
But no! The water comes in somewhere at/in/around the rub rail.

So the only idea ist to put some white boat sealant on the top of the rub rail where it goes to the gelcoat.
Well does anybody has a better idea? If I do so maybe it should be done around the boat completely... what I don't like too much..

I generally keep the joint between the top of the rub rail and the deck sealed with marine grade silicone caulk. I do not use 5200 because this area is exposed to the sun and it does not seem to hold up well to UV exposure.

I don't know if this will solve your leak issue, but I hope it helps. Best of luck.
