Following the Vandee Globe? Solo around the world

Post by FishyFabs »

For those of you suffering with cabin fever...you can always follow the Vandee Globe which started 8 days ago and will last another 70 days. It is a solo sailing race around the world without any assistance or any stops. It will take them approximately 80 days.

I am following Alex Thomson in the Hugo Boss boat. Why him you say?...Because he can literally walk up a mast! Here is the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4loB_UGxw8 . He has another video where he walks on the keel which is impressive too.

You can track their progress and wind speed on the Vendee Globe website but I find the iPAD app runs the animation graphics much better giving you a better picture.

Hopefully this can ease the pain of winter for you!

Great stunt too....I am disappointed to see how little press or TV coverage this race is getting.

Here's the link the the web site. http://www.vendeeglobe.org/en/ I've got it set as one of my default web pages (along with this one and some others) that open automatically when I open Chrome. I'm not following anyone in particular, but would be interested to know if there is someone I should be rooting for and why. Who should I be pulling for?

If you wish to follow a lot more crazy trip across the Atlantic, you can follow this fellow who is attempting to swim across the Atlantic.

And if you are still following.

It is long and I can not understand French. But watching Alex pushing that boat without a foil is amazing.
