Chicago Strictly Sail 11-15 Jan 2017

Post by dlandersson »

My "survive the winter" goal is just around the corner - right after Christmas and New Years.

Each year I get to meet some pretty cool people there. Anyone know if they are going yet, and when? 8)

Seems to me to be a serious compliment.

The welcoming poster for the Chicago Striclty Sail (and RV) boat show featured what looks to me to look a LOT like a Mac 26x. Jus' sayn' :P

Makes perfect sense. It's an RV, Power and Sail boat show. Sadly neither Catalina, Benneteau, Hunter etc. have a power/sailboat that provided a marketing solution. May be it will be a wake up call for another power sailor. Unfortunately most likely not.

I think you're giving the marketers too much credit. I think it's simply because it's a nice pic of people having a great time on a sailboat. 8)

Went to the show at the last minute with other members of the Neenah-Nodaway Yacht Club. Attended some good forums on fiberglassing and vacuum bagging as well as one on couples sailing. Didn't tour any sailboats, but not really in the market. Didn't see Seaward there and the number of vendors seemed fewer, but overall a good show.
