I'm laid up at least 4-5 months with my arm in a sling for half of that

I still dream of Hawks Cay & there's also a good spot Gulf side, can't remember the name... Miralago? didn't go to it - yet

I miss the Keys even tho I hardly moved last year, it was a great trip I hope to repeat soon.

I'm still undecided on what my summer vacation is going to be but tossing around the possibility of upper keys....I originally was gonna buy a honda 2000iu generator but now considering being lazy and cheaper and just staying at a marina to charge batteries and run ac at night....anyone know any cheap marinas with ac and free truck /trailer storeage in upper keys?

When dates do you have in mind for this trip?

While I'll probably be kissing $2-4K goodbye. I might be due for a road trip over Summer vaca. My wife's a teacher & though I'm normally "strumming my pain with my fingers"... over the Summer up North. I'm starting to dream of warm salt waters on a vacation

We got lobsters because we went in alot of places others did not ! Alot of places I bet we motored in like 18 inches of water to get to .

We've considered doing the bully netting thing with lights on the flats or around robbies....supposedly it's easier bullynetting in the dark

Haha that's when we are going down is mini lobster season .. last week in July....I don't know the first thing about where to find lobster ...we don't have scuba tanks so will try to see if I can find my top spot map and find shallow places for lobster diving

As others have said, it's mayhem during lobster "mini" season. I spent four years as a backcountry ranger in Florida Bay (Everglades National Park), and it was always one of our busiest times for vessel groundings (weekend warriors without a clue how to navigate), drunken fights on the water, poachers, and the occasional boat vs. boat accident.

Not trying to rain on your parade but it is all worthy of consideration. Oh, and whatever you do, if you go lobstering bayside, be sure to stay out of the National Park! It is illegal to take or possess lobster within the boundaries.
