shore power installation, galvanic isolator
I'm in the process of installing a shore power system in my Mac 26M.
Where have you purchased the components, especially the galvanic isolator?
The only galvanic isolators I find on my internet search are either WAY too large or cost $400+.
Ezacdc.com seems to be out of business.

I don’t use one at all. Don’t need it, as nothing that’s bonded to the electrical system is in the water while the shore power cord is in use. The only metallic pathway to the water is the OB, and that’s not in the water at the dock. So no worries.

Re: shore power installation, galvanic isolator
I do not have installed a galvanic isolater yet.
I do not load the battery with 220V becouse I use solar.
So there is no connection from 220V to the minus of the boat. This can be different
I hear about the problem that the fridge can be bridged via the earth from the 12V-battery to 220v earth.
So if I use the fridge for longer periods with 220V I disconnect the 12v from the fridge.
One question: There is said if you tilt up the motor there is no connection to the water. Hmmm.... but there where the motor is bolted to the boat the motor frame and the bolts are in submerged with the water.

I thought of that when I posted it, but mine is not submerged. It's close, and gets splashed with waves, but it's not submerged. And my zincs aren't getting eaten, so I'm calling it good.

I wonder how many Mac owners use isolators.

Re: shore power installation, galvanic isolator
I you really want one Fisheries has one for $230 https://www.fisheriessupply.com/newmar- ... c-isolator (not sure this one is fail safe) or for a bit more https://www.fisheriessupply.com/newmar- ... c-isolator. Since you're installing new components make sure you install a reverse polarity indicator. Make sure if you do install a GI make sure it is a newer 'fail safe' model more so if you're in fresh water.
