26M Moeller 12 gallon tank

Post by Stardust26M »

I saw a recent post that the 12 gallon Moeller tank fits in the 26M. I was about ready to order the BWY aluminum tank, $420.
Ordered via Amazon, it's now $120, and it fits perfectly. Only other flaw had been the new EPA gas cap, but I found the old cap via Walmart and ordered 3, thinking I'd probably use a 6.5 gallon tank as a spare, leaving room for the engine battery in the opposite compartment.
Now to fuel lines. Having built an experimental aircraft, fuel lines run through the cockpit to the fuel selector valve, then through the firewall to the engine. I'll be running the fuel lines through the cabin, along with the battery cables. If it works in an airplane, I'm comfortable using in a boat.

We moved recently and just got the boat into it's new home. It's a 2013 26m, never been rigged or in the water. Looking at a Yamaha 60hp and need to add the other items to get it into the water, radio, life jackets, anchor, etc.
BOAT, bring out another thousand :P

Jake, You’ll be fine with the way you want to run your fuel line. For the past 14 years my fuel tanks each have an on/off valve mounted at each tank outlet with lines run thru a hole drilled in each of my fuel lockers to a T under the rear berth then out the boot to the motor with the shifter & throttle cables. A couple of months ago I couldn’t find type A1 fuel line so I red neck fixed the T to the inside of motor well with duct tape & ran old B1/B2 type fuel hose across the cockpit floor like most do. Left it that way for the Beer Cruise. Decided I hate it because it’s not clean and nice looking like my old way. So back from Pensacola I‘ve kept boat at home instead of slip, ordered some A1 fuel lines and will go back to lines inside. Also sealing a few freshwater leaks around chain plates & deck hardware while I’m at it. If you look close at this pic can see the hole for my fuel line near top of locker.

Good morning, Jeff.
I have to replace two Moeller Scepter 12 gal tanks on my 2006 Mac26.
Did you replace the cap(s) on your new Moeller low profile tank because the lid would not shut?
Beside of the age of the current tanks, installed by the previous owner, the lids don't shut completely without putting pressure on the caps.
Thank you for any advice you may have.
