I'm OK with almost any length voyage except "a three hour tour".

Talk about presumptuous.Highlander wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 5:23 pmdeiva wife & privileged kids, as a true "Karen" she proceeds to ask me what I had brought along for them eat on this trip
I don't even feed my OWN guests.
Should have said sardine sandwiches.
I love how you handled it. "Bucket in the cockpit". LOL

Re: Pretty funny - esp. about how long boating trips are
As a teenager I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to go for an afternoon sail after we got off from work. Merrily we sailed tacking upwind in the pretty little Sunfish under a gentle steady wind.
After about an hour we turned to head in after reaching the midpoint of the beautiful mid August lake where upon the wind died out to nada. Not a wisp of a breeze. With some confidence I said not to worry, there’s always an evening breeze (which there had been every night for the preceding Two months). Yet on this one evening it failed to show up
( or rather the breeze was always blowing from the lake to the shore and we were dead center of the lake and at least 5 miles from home.
Not a boat to be seen. Not a whisper of a breeze.
The sunlight faded to dusk. Dusk to dark.
Nada.
So after attempting to row the sail, paddle the centerboard, skull the rudder with little to no effect I made a shoulder sling from the sail hoist halyard and dutifully when over the side and swam us the miles back with her chit chat and banter to within 100 yards of camp. It was at that point a friend came out looking for us in a ski boat and towed us to shore at about midnight. Needless to say EVERYONE whispered away the rest of the summer as to what actually happened.
which to be entirely honest was absolutely innocently nothing.
We remained friends for years afterward and kept in touch as we grew older. She was an amazing friend but time and distance and the foibles of life had us drift apart in our mid twenties. She was an amazing talented smart kind and beautiful individual to have as a friend.
I have often wondered and hoped that she is as happy as she was then on that afternoon cruise.
Life has moved on and there is much in life to be happy and grateful for as the paths lead in different directions. No regrets or pining for a path not taken. But a happy memory of a friend and an afternoon sail in the mists of long ago.
