New Genoa confusion

Post by Misha »

I just got my new Genoa sail form thesailwarehouse.com. The sail is RF25.3LC (MacGregor 26M, 150% Furling Genoa, Coastal furling genoa with foam luff pad & Sunbrella 5oz White UV ). The strange thing about it is that sail corners are very hard. I am not sure how it will furl. Does anyone has the same sail or any opinions about my concern?

Can you post a photo. Can you also define “hard”. Is that stiff, or solidly not bending, or something in between.

It is stiff. Or very stiff. I reached out Michael from thesailwarehouse.com and he assured that it is normal and that after few times furling / unfurling the sail it will become more flexible. I did not had a chance to try it yet. I will be on the boat next weekend and will try the sail and take photos. BTW: My new main CM27.3PHL(Coastal - Powerhead - 2 top battens full - Loose Footed) expected in couple of weeks.

All three corners should be very stiff. That's where the loads are.
