Philadelphia MacWinter "Gathering of the Faithful" - 2024
We tried one of these earlier this year, and we got a small but dedicated turnout. So... do we wanna have one again early next year? Perhaps this one can draw a bigger turnout?
The idea is to have a get-together of folks for dinner, or even a breakfast, where we can share some camaraderie and maybe some daring tales of sailing adventures. Plus, we get to meet each other face-to-face. Could be in Philadelphia, suburban Philadelphia, or even in NJ or Delaware... whatever works best for everyone who wants to attend.
Date would be sometime between mid-January and the end of February, 2024... whenever works best.
Thoughts, suggestions & ideas are more than welcome.
Please let me know in your comments if you'd want to attend such an event.
Cheers,
Kevin

Welcome.
The last 17 years of my career I worked in Cherry Hill and Marlton. Been retired now 6.75 years. And yes I’m counting.

Charlie, I never knew you had a Mac! We’ve crossed paths in robotics and Scouts as well.

Richard,
If you believe this is possible, the Admiral and I will open our home to you for the night. Shower and breakfast in the morning.

OK, so it's sounding like mid January, and probably in the Philadelphia area, near major highways where folks can easily get to the venue without getting lost on backroads. Heck, maybe we'll have it where we did last year? (Maggiano's Little Italy)

Kevin,
Once we have decided on a restaurant, post a list of those who said they are attending.
Those who are interested, post on this site and where you’re coming from; it will make it easier to establish a convenient location.

Re: Philadelphia MacWinter "Gathering of the Faithful" - 2024
Nope, we definitely haven't forgotten.... it's just been a whirlwind here in the McLemore house, between visits by our sons, traveling for Thanksgiving, going deer hunting, managing Scouting meetings & events, getting our driveway and flagstone walk redone, fixing a trailer's brakes... oh, and delivering my Mac to get re-powered (yay!)...well, suffice it to say, it's been a busy month!
Anyway... here are the details, below. I hope they work for most of you. We will be getting together for dinner, where we will meet and get to know each other better, engage in warm conversations, and share some of our MacGregor stories and ideas.
The venue for our dinner is Maggiano's Little Italy, which has a has a wide-ranging menu, with plenty of variety for different tastes and food preferences. Located in the Valley Forge/King of Prussia area, it should be very convenient for folks access, even for those who are coming from somewhat far away... it's not inside a busy city like Philadelphia, it's convenient to major highways (PA Turnpike, Route 476, Route 422, etc.), and it offers plenty of nearby hotel/motel venues if folks want to spend a night or two. If you do travel from afar, there are lots things to see and do within a quick 1/2 hour drive... the Valley Forge Casino, Longwood Gardens, the famous King of Prussia Shopping Mall, historic Valley Forge Park, all of downtown Phila's historic and entertainment attractions, etc.).
We hope you can make it!

The last time this event happed, there was a challenge to finding Kevin and I in the crowd. We will rectify this.

Yep, this year I asked for cell phone numbers as a part of the RSVP, so we can text folks to let them know where we are inside.
I reserved a table of 12 for now. If more sign up, we can rent a room. Oh, and I had to reserve it under my name - I couldn’t use “Macgregor” - so we’ll need to tell everyone that when they sign up.
