That table appears to be describing various connections that are possible if you are getting your GPS data from NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000. You should be getting your GPS through the coax connection on your antenna.
Do you see anything else on the N2K network when the autopilot is off? Is it possible that when you power off the autopilot you are also killing the power to the entire N2K backbone? Do you know where your N2K power node is?

Brilliant!
That's it of course, the network backbone is power is on the autopilot circuit. Did not think of that, and explains why I can only see it when the autopilot is on. I forgot that I had two power connections for the network on the starboard power panel, one for the pilot and one for the backbone. I even commented on that at the beginning of this thread.
I still read the table as saying that the AIS doesn't output GPS position on the SeaTalkNG network. I'll do some more investigating.

I may be looking at the wrong manual. I'm looking at Appendix B that shows no GPS related messages for NMEA 0183 and appendix C which says that it will provide PGN 129029 on the N2K connection (129025 is also a good one if it's there).

Re: Raymarine EV-100 Wheel Pilot -Mac26X
A google search of "AIS700 GPS output" tells me that the AIS GPS won't go on a network very easily, if at all, and that the manual note that the NMEA 183 output for the GPS is to be used for diagnostics only is kinda true. I'll give up the idea of the AIS providing backup GPS, and focus on adding a SeaTalkNG VHF with GPS.
A little pricey tho, even if this is CDN$

That's pricey no matter whose $ you are counting in

Re: Raymarine EV-100 Wheel Pilot -Mac26X
I received the Ray63 and 2nd mic station. I installed the Ray63: a very easy procedure since all the wires and cables were already in place. The Ray63 is a "full size" radio so it takes up a bit more space than the old Icom 422.
The radio comes with a pre-connected external GPS antenna, about 24" in length.
The network immediately recognized the Ray63 as a GPS source, and automatically set it as the preferred source over the internal GPS on the Axiom.
All I need to do now is to run the 2nd mic cable to the helm. I absolutely hate running cable through my 26X so that'll wait for another day. I think that about concludes the Raymarine SeaTalkNG network install on my boat. Don't want to think about how much I spent over the last few years, but hey, this is boating.
Not a bad network, now:
Wheelpilot with P70 display
RealVision sonar transducer
Axiom 7 plotter
AIS transceiver
Radio with GPS source

Re: Raymarine EV-100 Wheel Pilot -Mac26X
Finished the install, with the RayMic mounted in the cockpit pedestal. Looks nice, seems quite functional but time will tell. Running the wire was, as usual, a nightmare. I spent a ton of time in the back berth trying to fish the wire from the port headliner cavity behind the headliner to the pedestal penetration. I could get my fish through but the connector of the mic just would not pass and I finally had to drill a 1" hole in the headliner and take the cable out about two feet from the pedestal penetration. I hate bare visible wires, but I suppose no one will see this one, halfway through the aft berth.
Updated the wiring diagram. Posting here cuz I like to have a history progression
I bought a new 5-way connector instead of a new tee, which allows me to remove two previous tees and a short backbone cable. Not sure if I should keep or sell the tees and cable...they're surprisingly expensive for such small parts. I feel like I have the "Highlander" disease when it comes to this network because I found myself browsing Raymarine Radar on defender.com. Hahaha, not gonna happen....is it??? (Maybe I'll keep one tee, just in case).

The physical wiring actually looks about like that, mixed in with the rest of the MacRatsNest.
