Cracks in non-skid and my plan

Howdy folks. I have a number of small cracks in my non skid on the deck on either side of the pop up. My plan is to chip away any loose material and then apply Kiwigrip to all the diamond pattern nonskid areas of the boat. Is this an acceptable repair method? Has anyone else kiwi'd their nonskid?

I used Kiwi Grip over the non-skid on my V25. I'm happy with the results, and it was fairly easy to do.

Thanks! Did you use the supplied roller, or use a short nap roller? I'm thinking I don't want a super aggressive texture.

Q: Have you figured out “why” the non-skid areas are flaking? What causing it to delaminate?

It your substructure is compromised the flaking is an early warning of an underlying problem….

Just wouldn’t want you to mask over a problem with a little fix vs. a problem that later requires a big fix.

That's a fair question, and the short answer is "no". I haven't suspected core issued in that area, once I chip away at the loose material maybe I'll reveal something more. The crack is roughly circular and around 10" in diameter. If I didn't know better I would assume that something heavy hit the deck there or someone really stomped down. The nonskid is very "dry" in appearance, I think this boat saw a lot of sun in storage. I'll inspect as closely as I can next time I'm with the boat, and see if I can track down some causes.
