lol I did want an X because I loved the layout, but the general opinion was that the M was a better boat for sailing and since I wanted to maximize sailing that was a consideration. I also liked the look of the boat from the outside after having many traditionally styled boats including my gorgeous 32ft yawl. (Which had a horrible head which i never used btw, opting for a camp toilet on the cabin floor. And who’s other accommodations were equally abysmal. But she sure was pretty, and a powerful boat under sail)
In fact my M beats that boat in every facet of onboard comfort except the amount of hard to access storage areas.

Hi Ixneigh!

Personally I’ve like the idea of a ‘balanced’ boat… Not so much emphasis just on sailing aspects but also on usability, survivability, maintainability and livability.

Personally we think Rodger did an excellent design with both the Mac26X and Mac26M on all these aspects within the size and space limitations. We love our nearly “perfect for us” Mac26X… just as others love their Mac26M. Rodger also made it possible for so many owners to modify their vessels into truely unique personally customized boats. The Mac26 has got to be one of the most highly modified boat designs, not because of any deficiencies but rather because it is a great boat that by design is readily modified to allow individuals to see and accomplish something unique for themselves and their particular needs/desires/tastes.

Thanks Rodger!

Best Regards,
