Nice! When do we get to see you wake surfing? 8)
The key to inner peace is to admit you have a problem and leave it at that.

hahaha this youtube thing is EASY...here you go. Not wake-boarding, more like proof of concept with a paddle-board before buying a wakeboard. I love the way my wife cracks up when he falls: I could listen to that video 1000 times :D

The drone has to be even faster cuz it's an :macx: :D

DJI Mavic Mini from Costco, and it only kept up because we're full ballast in that video. :D The top speed of the drone is just about the same as the boat without ballast depending on wind, waves and current, with the boat's measured top speed beating out the drone's published still-air top speed.

Do they have a drone that can crash in saltwater and not be ruined?

That kind of thing exists, but it's expensive. The DJI Mavic Mini was $400 CDN at Costco, and we just land it on the dodger. You can't actually reach out and grab it as its hovering as it will automatically avoid your hand, keeping itself out of reach. You've gotta bring it in between the stays, hover over the dodger and select auto-land. It's absolutely unbelievable how good the tech is; with automatic position hold, altitude hold, return to takeoff point, obstacle avoidance and more.

My 14 y.o. son did the first landing, and he was sweating bullets on a windy day with the boat bouncing at anchor. He really didn't want to be the one to crash it, but he understood that I am totally accepting of the fact that the drone was bought to make boat videos and therefore it's gonna end up in the water sooner or later. We were glad it wasn't sooner.

I have a first gen DJI drone. Known for mishaps and lacking all that cool new software tech. I am too afraid to fly it over water.

I have a "Spry+" (no longer being sold) from Swellpro which is waterproof, can be launched from water and can recover from inversion. Have yet to film my boat and will do so this season. Swellpro sell larger drones that are all waterproof.
