Re: MRS line?
Yer replacing yer Mrs?!?
That’s bold!
Depending on the state and locale they generally last longer than 15 years…. I’ve only had one and she’s still going good after 24 + years….

Re: MRS line?
If no one answers first I'll dig out the micrometer and measure mine in the morning.

Re: MRS line?
Thx. I'm thinking 5/16' and 55 feet. And weight/stress. I have no idea how strong it needs to be. I'm thinking pretty strong.

Re: MRS line?
The diameter matches my measurement. I did not check the length.

Re: MRS line?
The original (non-winch) MRS was supplied with 54 feet of 5/16" white line.dlandersson wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 12:02 pm I have the old 26X MRS.

If, however, you're referring to the other (non-wench) Mrs. system... I've been maintaining mine for over 37 years now, and it's in very good condition. I have yet to find a suitable replacement, but then I rather like the original and it's acquired a lovely patina.

Re: MRS line?
Mine is the old-style non-winch version. I have no doubt that it is as old as the boat. I did notice a bit of chafing on one section last time I used it but I don't think its anywhere near ready to be replaced.
5/16 double braid should be good for something north of 3000 lbs lifting and just shy of 200 lbs with the most conservative safety factor baked in. A 26X mast weighs a bit over 40 pounds without the spreaders, stays, and whatever else we may have up there so it looks like the original MRS may be one of the few over-engineered parts of the boat.

For a winch MRS it’s 5/6” line, 15 feet long

Re: MRS line?
Ok, my MRS winch line is like 55' long. The winch is the starboard cockpit one.
