Alright, you win. I was graduated from my physical therapy as exceeding expectations in the strengthening of my right knee and have joined a gym and have a trainer. Her name is Amber. And, yes, she is pretty. So, now I do aerobic sailing on my Mac and see Amber every two weeks with independent exercise in between. Hope you approve!Stickinthemud57 wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 7:33 amI am of the opinion (and research backs me up) that fitness watches are not an effective tool when it comes to establishing an effective exercise routine, so I have nothing to offer there.Herschel wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 8:43 am Stickinthemud57 reported:That is what I am curious about. Yes, I endeavor to get in bicycling and swimming on a regular basis, but, honestly, I fall far short of my desired frequency. Life just seems to "get in the way." So, that has me curious about the apparent "aerobic sailing" I appear to be getting which compliments (but not replaces) the bicycling and swimming. If so, anything helps. If anyone else with a smart watch can share their experiences in this area, I would be interested. While I don't kid myself that sailing is a substitute for my exercise classes, I place it in the "worthwhile physical activity" category.
I have found that for me any exercise regimen without some form of accountability works only for a short while - as evidenced by the rowing machine currently collecting dust in my office. To those with more resolve and willpower, I salute you.
Frustratingly, the rewards of better health have never been enough to keep me on a program, so I pay to be in an exercise class that meets at regularly scheduled times. This way it goes on my calendar, my frugal nature makes the guilt kick in if I skip, and since my wife is in the class too the accountability level is high, and I actually find myself looking forward to the classes.
I have been doing this for 6 months, a record for me.
Thank you, ris. I wish you both good sailing in northern waters this summer. I have been truly amazed at your accomplishments on the Loop and elsewhere. We will likely explore the southeast with our travel trailer during the later weeks of the summer. Hoping to catch family and friends at home as we drive/camp through. It is always good to know we have been a positive in others lives. Blessings.ris wrote: ↑Fri May 23, 2025 4:42 am Herschel Its hard to believe that we visited you 10 years ago to look at a MacGregor in real life instead of a picture. Thanks so much for encouraging us to buy one. Planning to visit Canada and Lake Champlain in our Mac this summer. For those that do not know we use our Mac as a power trawler because of disabilities but we still love her. Thanks again Herschel
