Once they opened up the pipes, it is amazing how well I feel. I was telling my wife.... I should have heart attacks more often.

I stripped down the daggerboard yesterday to raw glass. It took a hit on the leading edge, and the rear seam split open. I drilled some holes along the trailing edge, and I'm going to stuff some chopped strand in there, quickly seal it up on the outside with some resin, and then pour some inside so that that rear edge is solid. Then I have some 1708, I'll wrap the entire blade with the seam on the front edge. That should keep it until I run it into something.

Don’t forget that somewhere down there on the bottom of that dagger board are holes so that it can fill with water and sink. You don’t want to cover them up or seal them while doing you repair or it will float back up into the trunk

Yes...I opened them up some. That might add some turbulence, but I doubt enough to matter.











I taped that read edge and I have 24 ounces of resin curing inside that rear edge in this picture.

Originally, I was going to grind it out and get all crazy but I looked at how it broke (all jagged) and didn't see the need. I folded some chopped strand and then poured resin in through the holes I drilled. I taped the rear edge with painters tape and that worked perfectly. I think it is already stronger than stock, but I'm going to lay some more glass externally just to make sure.

Hey... we are neighbors too. Congrats on the 26D purchase!

I managed to get the flu this week, so I'm feeling a bit like expecting the locust plague next week. But I still managed to get another layer of resin on the daggerboard and glassed up the holes I drilled.
