Bent spreader
I bent a spreader. What is that made of and where do I get some?!

What Russ said is what many do. Some even hammer a woooden dowel into the tube for reinforcement. Personally, I have ordered from BWY.
I have reduced my chances to bend spreaders by removing the spreaders while preparing to derig. When getting ready to raise the mast, I reinstall them once the mast has been attached to its base.
Since doing this, I have never bent a spreader. I do keep a spare pair just in case.

You can buy the tubing from ebay. I used titanium tubing for mine. I think it was only about 35 dollars each.
