Hi Ris!

Wow! We thought you were in Florida so 1300 miles is a bit of a trip to find water in New York!

Just kidding!
We found your post about your upcoming Canadian trip!
That sounds wonderful!

First - Congratulations on your recovery! That must have been a challenging journey. We are very glad that you are now cancer free!
Second - THANK YOU for sharing your story with others here on the forum. We appreciate that you are willing to share your experiences and your willingness to help others should they be challenged with a similar situation. THANK YOU!
Third - If your plans have you traveling by Beaufort SC before July please feel free to contact us! We have an open spot on our driveway with electric and water for overnights. There is also Hunting Island SC State Park which is on the Atlantic shore and a great place to camp with a Mac! We’ve done it a couple times and really enjoyed it.

Best Regards,

Hi All!

It seems that the fates are beginning to intervene again this year with our ICW trip plans.
Family schedules and some medical issues that have arisen look like the window for a Spring trip is narrowing.
Might even have to curtail our planned three month season back a month as we may have to go north early. Phhbbbttttt! Fribble! :? :|

The Admiral is suggesting we could possibly come back down South in September/October and try our trip then …..
So much for long term advanced planning :D :D ….
Well two months on the water is better than no months on the water.

Another alternative that comes to mind is to just scrap the ICW plans for this year and possibly look into an alternative like Lake Champlain to the Champlain Canal and on further to the Hudson River … but that is a real long shot with lots of logistics and complexity and scheduling that would need to be worked out…low odds of pulling that off :? :|

Life is what it is… just gotta roll with it.
Serendipity’s like that. :D :D8) 8)

Hi All!

Thank you to those who convinced me not to sell off our old 99k mile 2006 Honda Accord!
Yes it is a good running vehicle and it’s hopefully got another 100k mikes yet to go.

My older daughter is finishing up her Master and starts an accelerated 1 year PreMed program up in Raleigh NC at he beginning of June! :) :) She’s smarter than I am that for sure!

Anyhow, her Fiat 500 fizzled out on her and she needed a reliable set of wheels to replace it.
Tried having the Fiat Dealer fix it but after several valiant attempts (and $1700 ) there wasn’t anything that could be done.

Fortunately we still had the 2006 Honda Accord sedan.
It basically runs great but needed some TLC that I’d been deferring as I was only using it as a third vehicle to run errands in town.

> I had the windshield replaced by Safelite as it had several crossing cracks. $380
> I had the inoperative A/C serviced by the Honda. $250
> I replaced to radiator fan set as one of the two fans was inoperative with a replacement from RocAuto $115
> I pulled/stripped/cleaned/refurbished/reinstalled the headliner that had separated and was flapping around. I stripped off the old fabric and foam backing then solvented off the old contact adhesive (a mess :? ) and then spray painted it with Krylon Textured Granite. Looks absolutely amazing .$120
> Got the oil changed and had a multipoint vehicle inspection $115
> the rear muffler exhaust support hanger was pushed out of its support bushing at some point when someone accidentally backed into something. The exhaust piping and brackets were distorted but with a couple hours, a ratchet strap, big pliers, hammer, pipe, and some choice words of encouragement I was finally able to get it rehung sorta the way it was supposed to be. $80
> the catalyst heat shield had failed its forward mounting bolts and was hanging loose. I used some SST wire ties to make two wrapping bands to get it re-secured. $0
So for about $1100 rounded up my daughter now has a good set of reliable wheels to start her next educational journey!

A difficult situation was made workable with getting the old Honda refurbished at a reasonable cost!
So THANK YOU for those who encouraged me to keep ahold of that Honda!

Hi All!

As with all journeys one needs to be ever flexible and constructively adaptable to the ever changing weather, winds, tides opportunities and circumstances you meet along the way.

It seems that our plans have changed as far as getting back up north to New Hampshire in June as previously anticipate do to some unanticipated health issues that need to be taken care of first down in South Carolina. Kind of a developing story but currently we’re now planning on remaining here well into the Summer. That’s not what we had planned but it’s what we’ve got to work with.

The serendipity is we get to extend our boat season!

The marina we have our slip in was kind enough to extend or slip lease (right after we had asked to shorten it … go figure :| :D :D ).
Because of the dynamic unfolding circumstances we’re not sure that re-initializing our prior extended ICW cruising plans is going to be possible this year. We’ll just have to play that by ear. :| :| Just gotta roll with things and make Lemonade when they are in season!  Getting out on the water with Over Easy always seems to make things better and more manageable.

It also gives us additional time to make continued progress on our South Carolina To Do List (:D :D As the Admiral quickly pointed out :D :D ). I’ve been adding updates to our plan lists posted previously (if anyone is interested). It’s all part of our journey.

Hi All!

We hope everyone had a great Mothers Day!
We were able to enjoy a nice afternoon out on the Beaufort River traveling up to Brickyard Landing and back to Port Royal.
Gorgeous weather! We saw several dolphins along our way.
The Admiral really enjoyed it.
We ate a late lunch on the boat and a fruit-n- cheese pack with caramel dip till sunset.
