26X 2002 Profurl T26

Post by Polymer »

Dear all,
Just bought a 2002 26X. Sadly the previous owner died so I can get no info from him.

The biggest question is how the “roller furling jib” works. I managed to raise the mast successfully, but I cannot figure out how the system itself works and how the thin line is supposed to be used. I understand that it should go around the drum/roller, but why does the thin line go into the drum and then up through the drum and into and up in the groove inside the foil all the way to the top of the mast, and then come all the way down freely again?
Now the mast is up and I have the black round piece up at the top of the mast at the very top of the foil. Was this black piece supposed to slide down along the foil to be hoisted together with the sail, or is it supposed to stay up there?

If anyone can help me I am very greatful. Totally lost in this.

These types of furlers have a pulley (or just a groove at the top). Many have a separate line for the drum and the halyard. Is it possible that this one uses a single line that goes through the drum and up the foil or luff? If that’s so, then that entire line is ALSO your jib halyard.

If I’m right, attach your jib to the free line and pull the line coming out of the drum while feeding the sail into the luff. Once raised, the bottom of the sail must be secured to the drum.

This link is for a similar Profurl furler. Should be much like yours.

I'm not familiar with that furler system.

You can download the manual for your boat and the CDI Furler manual here.
https://www.macgregorsailors.com/resources.html

The thin line should go around the drum. The manual shows a SECOND line that runs up the foil that I assume is a haylard to raise the sail on the track.

Your bowsprit is interesting. The PIN you used for the forestay is too large. It looks like the pin for the base of the mast where it attaches to the deck/bow pulpit.

It's way too long. It will work. However, it will likely get caught on lines etc.

Blue Water Yachts sells a pin that has a large head making it easier to install/hold in your hand.

However, any quality stainless steel rigging pin would work. This is the standard forestay pin.
