All trailers used in salt water will require some dutiful maintenance to forestall unexpected failures of the "moving" bits 'n pieces. This trailer is no different. Starting the sixth year in salt with my Mac 26X trailer, and the only maintenance it's had is a shot of fresh water upon retrieval.

But I knew that I pushed my luck. The brakes expired in year 4, mainly due to neglect. Disc brakes are a much better choice anyhow (now factory-standard). The tires were too small from the get-go, so I upsized to 15-inchers (also now factory-standard). Some owners believe it needs two axles, but I prefer the maneuverability of the single axle. Some like to scuff down the rust patches and cover them with black Rustoleum (or better). Mine hasn't shown enough rust to fuss over.

The spring hangers will be prone to rusting solid, risking broken springs ... so they need a shot of WD40 every time you think of it. Oh yeah ... noticed on Sunday that my trailer's nose wheel is rusty, so it got a shot of WD40 too. I think the "risks" of the cheap Mac trailer are overblown.

"EZ-TLC for Mac Trailers" :D
Aa ---- Adequate Air pressure & tire capacity.
Bbb --- Bearing, Brake & Bunk maintenance.
Rr ---- Rustoleum for the Rusty patches.
Sss --- Spring Shackles need a Shot of lube.
