I had a point that many might overlook when thinking out all the things a Mac can do when having fun on the water.
I fish 70% of the time I am on the water out of my 26x Wind Musher.
I have a lot of people I know with power boats and a few sail boats that fish mostly and here is what i discovered..
The first three years I used the boat in Prince William Sound in Alaska I used the rod holders mounted facing out the back of the boat. They were mounted in the side rails. I mounted rail mount rod holders close to the winches on both sides of the cockpit. I quickly started catching more fish
each trip, most all on the holders mounted at the winches.
As we all know the Mac 26x rocks a lot with no ballast in the waves. This action causes the bait being fished over the side to bounce up and down off the bottm, this attracks the attention of the fish.
I have been anchored for hours beside a 41 ft cat and the people fished out the back off the deck with little action. I have experienced the same when anchored up next to 51 ft power boats fishing out the back of the boat with the same results. The Mac caught more fish because of the jigging
action caused by the boats rocking..
My most current endevore is to see how big of fish can be caught using light tackle, so far 39.13oz King Salmon on a ultra light rod and reel was the best fight and challange. About 45 minutes of heart pumping, sweat landing the fish
Since this catch I have had the challange of a 60 lb halibut on a med bass spinning real, constant preasure, spectra line, and a 410 shot gun I was able to land the fish.
So any Mac Sailor-fisherman, if adding rod holders, mount them on the rails, you will catch more fish.
