I have found something way cooler than sailing

Last weekend, my first grandson was born. Many friends have told me that there is nothing like having a grandchild. I guess I did not not relate.

The bonding was immediate. I cannot get enough of the little guy. In fact my daughter and son-in-law live in Dallas and I am contemplating the extradition laws if I bring him back to Kansas. All I know is that he is going to be spoiled in a major way. I am looking for little sailboats that will float in his bath.

For those parents out there who have kids, wait until the next generation starts popping up. It is a wonderful experience.

I am thinking that Heath needs to start a new thread for grandkids and Moe needs to start giving Admiral level newby grandparent advice. Which diapers are best? Is there a mod that can be performed on diaper pails that will reduce the fumes? Can you install a solar powered vent fan on the diaper pail?

All of a sudden, the misery of having my sailboat sitting winter out on a trailer is a small problem. Every sailor needs a grand child!

Congratulations, Randy! Our grandkids are long-distance, so what we use to stay in touch are digital cameras on the PCs at each end. Before IM clients got video, we used NetMeeting.

My admiral level advice is to go easy on the advice and let the parents figure it out for themselves.

Congratulations Randy. My oldest daughter just blessed me with my 14th grandchild. Moe's advice is right on the money. Your job is to love them, enjoy them and spoil them. It is a lot of fun teaching them to sail. Though mine are scattered all across the country, all but 1 of mine have been out on the boat at least once. The youngest one is under 2 months old but will get out next year. enjoy them and have fun.

Wow I am agreeing with Moe again Yep let the Adult kids raise -em you spoil em Aud and I have 9 ! And Papa and GrandMa's house IS the place to be ...Its a boy so start looking at Go Carts and Ooopppss I mean strollers I honestly I did mean stroller's ( and R/C boats for the pool and the lake I meant Bibs and One-zees honey did that come out R/C Boats again I better use spell check

I just had my first child, a son, 2 months ago. He's a beaut! Already 16 lbs! Any suggestions on how soon I can get him out on the water (w/ pfd of course) and extra special precautions I should take?

We are going to head down to Dallas to see the little guy over CHRISTMAS break (note that I did not say HOLIDAY break).

My first order of business is to get a toy sailboat that he can enjoy while taking a bath in the bathinett. But it is hard to find a toy sailboat with a BLUE hull. I want to make sure he has the fastest bathinett sailboat and not one of those inferior white hull bathinett boats. Nothing less than the best for the Baby Admiral.

I wonder if there are MODS available for bathinett boats?

Randy congratulations. Sailing and grandchildren are a great combination. I have 6 who range in age from 14 to 4 and one of my major reasons for owning a boat is to teach them to sail. Sailing with a crew of your grandchildren is the best. Look forward to combining your two passions in a few years. John L
