This is great! Although my Diane can not make it this weekend (she says say hi and sorry can't go), my oldest son (20) will go and I think a friend.

Just talked to Mike Inmon and he is going with his "race crew". He prefers Cat Harbor because it is so calm and we can anchor in so close. He said that if we tie up together ("raft") then all of us don't need two anchors, 'cause I don't have another one yet. I have a blow-up raft with oars and a good DC compressor if anyone needs it. I've also got a little bike-wheeled cart that I can bring - good idea.

Timmy Z, can you go the 25-26th? Pat on Tropico, can you go?

I'm in

Post by Timmy Z »

I made some changes in my schedule so count me in. I still will be leaving from Oceanside and motor/sail to the Island. I rather spend my time on the boat instead of the road if you know what I mean. I will have my 10 year old son with me. My wife (Izzy) prepares taxes so as you can imagine she is pretty busy these days. Im pretty much a bachelor until April 15, if you know what I mean.

Scott, where are you located? If you are close to Oceanside, maybe we can sail together.

Scott Ill go with you you Fri if you want to leave early....The rest of you guys go fri too, thats what sick days are for. Mark tell Diane its required she goes. Scott tell Marlo if she wants to sail fast she can ride in my boat.

I have a great idea we can all go work for Scott and then take off
(paid of course) anytime he does to go sailing. Scott you up for that?

Got a good retirement plan? something like work a year for you and then retire with 90 percent of our pay for the rest of our lives.

What about Rich can he bring his new old boat and meet us? I know 7mph
90 miles, well rich we will see you sunday if you leave Sat. or you could have the new boat shipped to MDR on a wide load trailer. lets see haul out
shipping and haul in haul out and shipping haul in, what around 1500 bucks? Rich we miss you.......

Rick are you bringing the pups? bridgette is going...always.

captain Steve let someone else judge and go with us. Got my sticker located on the mast. Got a sticker because of less chance us coast guard fireing on me for homeland security sake. Have you seen those kids manning the coast guard speed boats? they have got to be twelve years old. manning m-60 machine guns. with a grin from ear to ear.....

Timmy cell phone 310-994-4212 if you run into trouble, also Ill keep my radio on all day Friday channel 9 make sure your ok. Call AGUSTA
as you go till we can pick you up if you want. I have two radios so the main one ill keep on for you.

Ill need to refuel at least one tank before we head back and a cart would be perfect as there is no fuel at cat. I think. There is a sunken ship a chin. junk at cat harbor that can be seen at low tide.

Im already having fun........

Can't wait

Post by Timmy Z »

Cant wait and sure hope the weather holds up. Im trying to get Izzy to move some appointments around so she can come. I think I will stay at Isthmus harbor it is 58 miles from Oceanside and a little closer. Not sure how much further Cat harbor is but if I fuel up, I can come around to Cat harbor on Saturday. Ill call when I get close, should be around 1:00 if I motor the whole way. My cell is 951 852-8289, if you dont hear form me by 1:00 come find me. Ill give Dave Clark a call to see if he can make it.

Isthmus

Post by Timmy Z »

Great. Most likely I go to Isthmus. It is shorter because I dont have to go around the island, its pretty much a straight shot from Oceanside. Besides with a 10 year old aboard, I think the shorter the better. I most likely will come around to Cat harbor on Saturday, after a good nights rest. Man is it just me or what ??? I feel like its Christmas or something.

Tim
We just got about 20-24" of snow here in Big Bear Lake. It took me 4 hours this AM to clear off my driveways and I use a Bob Cat tractor with a snow plow attachment. We didn't have any snow here at Christmas.

Rick, how much snow did you guys have in FF
I hope the 24-26th is good weather for catalina
Mike, lets meet tim at the ismius on friday and then sail around on saturday to meet up with mark and inmon???

Miserable weekend so far.... We have 2 feet of snow at our house. Had to put chains on our 4 wheel drive just to get back up to Forest FAlls. Looking forward to some sun out on the island.... Snow shoe day tomorrow though...can't wait!

It is still snowing up here... My poor dad and uncle came into town mid-week to enjoy some "sunny" california weather...HA!! Dad spent the last few days helping shovel snow and carry in wood for the fire!

We would go early on that Saturday morning most likely...unless the weather is absolutely perfect and I can convince her to try a night crossing.
