I have what looks like the exact same setup. The only difference is that my stock spreaders (the tubes themselves) are Aluminum.
The mast mounting bracket, even stock, is stainless. It mounts to the mast such that it pivots about the mast. Or, said more correctly, the bracket and spreaders are stationary, with respect to the boat, while the mast rotates with respect to the boat and the spreaders, etc....
I've replaced the Al spreaders with SS and am very pleased. Went with the same dimensions and mounting, though am considering quick pins in place of the bolts so they can be removed when the mast comes down.
Anyone replaced the bolts with ball-lock quick pins? Not something to use on the forestay, but should be ok on the spreaders. The force under sail would be towards the centerline of the mast forcing the spreaders into their mounts, so dislodging shouldn't be an issue.
Good morning Michael.......I'm not sure about the pins that you are looking for,but the type I used are working Great! I always put the "Bail" aft,so it is protected by the spreader. However,I don't see that the Jib would ever come in contact with them.I didn't check if these are available in S.S.,but Lowes and H.D. have them in stock. If you increase the size of the last picture I posted, you can see the pin better. When I lower the mast,I put the pins back in the spreader mount, and bungee the spreaders to the mast along with the Furler. Hope this helps....Happy sailing,Don
Ah, yes, I see them now. Are they SS? This is the type pin I'm using to connect my engine steering to the rudder arm. Not SS either, but hasen't rusted yet - yet. At least I'm confident that it's not coming out.
A lot less $$ than the quick pin, which should be around $25 - $30.
Did you change the length of the replacement SS spreaders from stock?
