Wait till you try to install an autohelm wheel mount, no way you'll get that throttle into reverse, I already suffered the experience, works now though but I had to swing the mount down a bit plus cut some of the rubber off the throttle handle, not happy with the look. For now I've got the Mercury factory controller, which seems aweful, and really isn't going to fit with the new pedestal. You've got maybe a quarter inch clearance between the steering wheel and the end of the throttle and that's with installing it at a screwy angle to get that much clearance. When going from reverse to neutral you pretty much have to side arm the thing.

So I just ordered the uflex control and adapters for the merc cables from overtons. I'm having them overnighted. So tomoorw will be interesting trying to get that all installed in time for my PDI Thursday morning. I'm planning on pulling the ignition, dead mans switch, motor alarm buzzer, and tach harness from the factory controller, since I already have it, plus that will give me a nice wiring harness to run to the engine.

Deja... Sorry to hear about your negative experience in your
dealings with Bill.
Several months ago Rich Boren and I were down at the factory
to pick up a mast and some other parts... and our principle con-
tact was with Bill.
He spent at least and hour or so with us... instructing the workers
relative to loading the mast... and a complete tour of the factory.
Rich and I found him very pleasant and accomodating as well.
Maybe he was having a "bad day"... or since our visit... he has
been instructed to have minimal contact with customers for legal
reasons or whatever.
After spending some time with him... we did realize that he is more
than just the "parts guy". I suspect he is Mr. MacGregor's main
squeeze when it comes to running that operation internally.

Looks like I may be in trouble...for the moment at least. I ordered these:
http://www.overtons.com/modperl/overton ... &fcat=2C1A
Based on They Theirs and Aya16s advice. I've already got mercury cables (not installed yet). But looking back through some other posts it looks like this particular setup may not fit. I sure hope it does because I'm not sure I can get teleflex cables locally with engine side adapters...if not it means I wasted the money on overnight shipping, I'm pretty sure it's too late to get the "correct" cables shipped out today.
Do you happen to have a link to the cables I should be using?

From the MacGregor factory, to my shop in Wisconsin "Delivery Charge $1,475.00"

What you have may fit in the newer pedestal, but this adapter is for teleflex 3300 cables if it doesn't. Overtons might have the same adapters if you can exchange them.

sorry about the misunderstanding my intent was to show you where the
controller was available. Also wanted to remind you that you would need some adapters. As I dont have a mercury engine I didnt know there were two diff adapters. I do now. So if I post again about this stuff I will
let you know I dont have the mercury engine on my MAC. But I would adapt the tele flex cables to the merc. engine. That would make more sence. Also didnt they send the controller and the adapters at the same time? so if you ordered the correct cables (you have to any way) and get the right adapter it shouldnt cost much in shipping.

No worries. I jumped the gun a bit and made a quick decision to bag the mercury controller before the inspection on Thursday, which means I need the controller tomorrow. I figured you were telling me "get this and this." Especially since then right after that They Theirs posted pictures of the same items. I then didnt do any extra research because of the time crunch since the site said you had to order by 1pm to get them shipped that day, so order I did. That's totally my fault.
That being said, I have some Mercury cables already that I got locally. I haven't gone the other route yet with the adapters on the engine side. I don't think anyone has tried using the adapters for the mercury cables since the new pedestal came out some maybe it'll work with the ones I ordered.
If not it looks like Overton's has a good return policy. My bigger concern was that the description on uflex's website mentions that the mercury version of the controller has a "neutral safety switch for trim and tilt functions" but in a post over in the tuning and performance forum I've been assured it should work fine.
I appreciate the help.

I think you read it wrong, sure it didnt say "with neutral saftey
switch and power trim". The controller is generic,
but you do want neutral saftey switch and power trim button.
Also make sure you understand
how it works with the pull the handle out
to lock out the shifter.
Slow down whats the hurry? mistakes will only set you back longer.
west marine sells cables for teleflex if you have one near by.
also dont over look the dealer for some support.

Actually I copied and pasted that text from their website. I have no idea what they meant at this point.
The good news is it's now all installed and the boat is at the shop getting checked out to make sure I did everything right.
As for the rush...well I'm probably one of the youngest guys on this site so there's that, though I'm in my early thirties, on top of that I work with technology for a living so what I do is pretty fast paced, also I don't like having a project half done that I know I could finish if I just worked on it a little longer.
But like most people who start going too fast and start making mistakes, it's because they've set themselves some sort of a deadline. In my case, I have a transient slip rented at Bear Lake here in Utah next Moday, so I'd really like to be able to make that. It looks like I should be able to though, but I might have to cut back on some of the projects I had hoped to do before then....I don't really have to have that radio.

Where to sail in Salt Lake
Hey deja vu! I was just wondering where you plan on using your new boat. I just moved to Spanish Fork from San Diego. I figured I could use my Mac in Utah Lake and Strawberry Reservoir as well as maybe Lake Powell or maybe even Tahoe. I'm just curious where you mostly plan to use yours?

Well, the boat is all setup for now at least. So far I've installed a second battery in the stock location, Blue Sea battery switch and ACR (batttery combiner), 10 circuit fuse block, CD player with Polk Audio speakers (haven't got Cockpit ones installed yet but the wiring is there for them in the future), MP3 Player/Portable DVD player input jack for the CD player, 12V power port, 2 Hella fans, Nicro solar fan mounted starboard side about 6" in front of the light in the front berth, boomkicker, and the engine.
I've still got a depth finder that's on back order and I think I'll add a second 12v port in the cockpit somewhere, but once that's done I'll leave it alone for awhile and just get used to it before anything else.
Fishman...as for where I plan to sail...I'm heading up to Bear Lake for 3 or 4 days tomorrow, assuming I'm happy that I'm got everything in order for the boat, if not I'll head up Tuesday. Other places I plan on going are Dear Creek, Jordelle, Strawberry, Powell, Flaming Gorge, Tahoe, Jackson Lake if it ever gets water in it again, on occasion Salt Lake. It looks like there are some good places to go in Idaho as well. Probalby in general I'll stick to Deer Creek and Jordelle just because those are the lakes I know since I used to go there when I had my Hobie 16. Jordelle has a few transient slips as well so that would be a good, easy weekend getaway. I've never had much luck or fun on Utah Lake, so I'll probalby avoid it.

I can send you a copy of an invoice from MacGregor showing "Delivery Charge $1,475.00" to BOATS 4 SAIL, Oconomowoc, WI.deja_vu wrote:Bill, for the delivery charge I can only go by what my dealer says they charge him, he's been honest with me so far
Ask your dealer to show you a copy of an invoice, from MacGregor, with the "Delivery Charge", for a boat he had shipped to him.
This will give you some information, in black and white, to help you decide if he's been honest with you.
