trophy braid Line

My new Trophy Braid color (black) is not "soft and fuzzy" like I expected it to be from reading the Samson website. Do you have to wash it or let it age from use before it gets "fuzzy"? I was a bit disappointed after the UPS guy dropped it off. It was very stiff. My old original 26x mainsheet was much softer even when brand new. I also bought 3/8" (based on info gotten from this discussion group)- - is this the right dia. for the stock 26x mainsheet replacement? Seems to be a bit larger but still runs smooth through the blocks. Thanks.

Why do you recommend washing new rope before using it? Just curious.

By the way, I've heard that white rope is stronger than colored rope of the same manufacture. Something about the dyeing process that reduces strength a little.

Thanks Tripp Gal - - I followed your suggestion and the line is much softer. Next time I will put the line in a washing bag to prevent it from getting tangled in the dryer. What a difference in the look and feel of the washed line!
