Mississippi Gulf Coast

Post by c130king »

All,

Heading to Mississippi Gulf Coast next week for Turkey Day with the in-laws (Oh Joy :( !). Considering towing the boat with me (still have to convince the spousal unit).

However, I have heard the waters off of Gulfport/Biloxi/Longbeach area are pretty littered with trees and other assorted junk washed out from Katrina last year. I haven't been there since Katrina. I do know the water is not very deep...but I have never sailed there.

Anyone have any recent experience in that area and can pass on an update on the sailing conditions out there?

If this is the wrong forum for this question please let me know.

Thanks,
Jim

Maybe the CG unit near or in the area can help. Trees may be around, but they would likely be near shore, and not in any channels you might use. As to depth and tides, local charts are valuable. Have fun.

Katrina is too unrecent to have stuff floating about still.

However, do bring your mummy sleeping bag and I hope that you still cuddle in order to make it through these 35 degree nights.

Day time, it's great, like Minnesota in June.
