Hi,
Because of an engine problem I damaged the jellcoat and/or the paint at head above the waterline. Thanks god no cracks.
I need urgent help about what I can do to repair it. It is as bis as a golf ball and I can see the fiberglass.
Would it be enough if I use something like they use on the cars or sholud I buy a jellcoat kit?
I stared feeling better already, it is good to share anyway...

I have filled many cracks and holes with white MarineTex. The first time out with the used boat I discovered the bow support blocks were too far apart and the boat hit the crossbar removing about 18" of gel coat along the keel (I have since put in a roller). To repair it I used MarineTex and it worked great. It's easy to use, matches quite well. It's a two part epoxy compound. Once you have the area filled, wet your finger and smooth the surface. It will not stick to the wet finger and you can get a perfect smooth surface without the need for any sanding. Most marine stores sell it or you can get it online.
Gel Paste
Gel paste can be colored and applied fairly easily as well. A quick fix in one day or you can work it for a few days and make the chip blend so you cant tell it was there. It's really more about patience than skill. Unless you have a mold section don't expect perfection in one day. There are several books on the matter. After a while you stop fearing the chip.. even in the diamond non-skid.
Thanks
Thanks for your help, I never care about anything about my car. I repair such a damage may be 2 years later but when it comes to my boat since I don't know the risk I'm taking about doing something wrong I don't feel comfortable.
