Ok, Radar is likely unnecessary for these boats, but indulge me for a bit here...
Radar needs to needs up pretty high, for two reasons:
1 - range - duh...
2 - You don't want to microwave your noggen. another duh...
So, the obvious place to mount it, is on the mast. But, the M's mast rotates, and therefore would through off the radar's reference.
So, I had been looking at mounting above the mast crutch/arch. This may end up being the winning idea...
But, it occured to me that there is one part of the mast that doesn't rotate, the spreader socket. On could, theoretically, fabricate a radar mount to be secured to the spreader socket, which would retain its orientation, more or less...
Anybody looked at this?

A blue '07
in the Norfolk Naval Station Marina has about an 8' SS pole mounted on the aft starboard corner. That is where he mounted a radar unit.
I have spoken to him a few times and told him about this site. Not sure if he will read this but he may chime in with his radar performance.
I agree with your first sentence...unnecessary...at least for my use...
But then again I am a techno-geek kinda guy and would love some cool electronics.

Unecessary?
The only thing cooler than sailing at night is having the electro gadget stuff that goes with the whole program. On the Great Lakes, many vessels are moving around and knowing where they are and how your course is involved is really cool.

I have seen several boats with radar mounted to a post at the stern. Not sure how it works with the mast getting in the way of the radar. Would be an awesome gadget to have, especially when there's fog. Expensive, any way you look at it, but I suppose you can't put a price on something that can save your life.

Spreader bar mount looks cool........ but you have to be really careful when handling your genoa.......... I have repaired mine twice from snagging on the furuno that was mounted on custom bracket I made to hang from the the lower stay bolt.
An arch would be nicest, (because then all the other goodies could be mounted up there, antennas, lights, speakers, rod holders, radar,) however my last attempt an an arch interfered with my enclosure setting and removal....... Ultimately, this is my preferred location. But doesnt fit this summer,
So, I am back on a pole transom starboard side.
